A friend of mine asked me to help her with her (now) Sister-In-Law's bachelorette party. Of course I agreed to help and immediately began to do some researching. Here's a few things that I found and I hope they help you as much as they did for her.
Some drinks she must have during the night:
B = Ball and Chain = part Rumple Minze, 1 part Goldschlager, 1 splash Jagermeister
R = Red Eye Hell = 1/2 oz Triple sec,1 oz hot and spicy V8 juice,1/2 oz Vodka, 1/2 oz 151 proof rum Raging Lunatic 3 ounces Rum 1/2 ounce Brandy 1/2 ounces Chocolate Liqueur 1/2 Banana

GAMES:
Chink and Drink
This is a great way to get the party started. It helps all of the guests quickly and easily identify where everyone "fits" in. Make sure all guests have a full glass of champagne (or soda water!). Then announce the rules - if you belong to the group of people that is called out, then you have to "chink and drink" with the other members of that "group".
Groups to call out include:
• "Chink and Drink if you are from the bride's family"
• "Chink and Drink if you work with the bride"
• "Chink and Drink if you met the bride through the groom"
• "Chink and Drink if you are the groom's family"
• "Chink and Drink if you have known the bride for longer than ten years"
• "Chink and Drink if you met the bride in the last 12 months"
There are many opportunities! You could even have penalties if a person is in a "group" all by themselves and so therefore has no one to Chink and Drink with. This could be rigged - for example, if you want the bride to have a penalty, you could make it very specific - ie "Chink and Drink if you are getting married at 2pm next Saturday!".
This game helps get everyone interacting and gets the party going, right from the start.
You're marrying THAT?
Find the ugliest photo of the bride’s husband-to-be that you can. Even the best looking men have ugly photos – perhaps taken when they are intoxicated or asleep! The bride must keep this photo with her throughout the night, and when a codeword is yelled out, she has to show a stranger the photo and announce that this is the man she is marrying! The person who yells out the codeword must buy her a drink if she does it with a straight face successfully.
The Bride's Quiz
Ask the bride twenty questions a few days before the hen’s party. Create question sheets and have everyone at the hen’s party fill them out at the same time. Offer two prizes – one for whoever finishes first and one for whoever gets the most questions right! It is good to let the bride be the judge on this one – for answers to questions that are close but not quite.
The Groom’s Quiz
Ask the groom some questions about he and the bride. Read the questions out to the bride, and she must answer the questions in front of everyone. For each question that she gets right, she get a prize, or as an alternative, for each question she gets wrong, she gets some kind of penalty!

Carve the Cucumber (game)
Give every celebrant a cucumber or zucchini squash and a small knife or make them use their teeth (that's what my friend did). Explain that everyone has twenty minutes to carve their veggie into an accurate representation of a male member. After twenty minutes are up, the bride gets to judge them all. Make sure you take a picture of all the “members” for posterity.

Pizza Cookie
Crust:
1 - 20-ounce package store-bought sugar cookie dough, refrigerated
Icing:
2 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
1/2 cup butter (1 stick), softened
2 1/2 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Red food coloring paste (available at AC Moore and Michael's)
Instructions
3. Meanwhile, mix up the red frosting "sauce." In a large bowl, cream the confectioners' sugar and butter.
4. Add the milk and vanilla extract and beat until smooth. Add entire 1oz bottle of red food coloring paste and mix well. Use a spatula or knife to spread the sauce evenly over the cooled "pizza."
5. Now you're ready to add the toppings. For white chocolate "cheese," roughly chop or grate white chocolate.
6. Sprinkle it over the frosting.
7. Add toppings, see suggestions below.

Anchovies = Graham cracker goldfish

Super Silly Sixth Birthday Party
This year my son had requested a Super Silly Sixth Saturday Birthday Party. My first thought was Oh My Gosh where will I find party supplies for that type of party. But the more we talked and thought about it, it was actually pretty easy and fun to do!! So if you child comes to you with a crazy request like this, here's some stuff you can do:
Invitations:
My husband put together an invitation in Microsoft Word and used lots of silly pictures that he found off the internet. Or you can get the birthday boy/girl to make silly faces and then put them on the invite.
Decorations
Tape balloons upside down from ceiling. Write Silly Stuff or draw Silly faces on them with permanent marker.
Streamers on the floor.Go to a party supply or dollar store and let the birthday boy/girl pick mismatched party plates, napkins, ect.
When the children arrived give them sticker name tags and let them think of their own silly name or spell there names backward. Since the kids were between the ages 4 and 6 we decided to come up with our own silly names using their first and last names. For example: Freddie "Krueger" Smith or Frankiestein Thomas.
Games
Silly Outfit Contest - the silliest outfit gets a prize!!! Birthday boy or girl is the judge!!
Pass the parcel - Play a silly song and get the kids in a circle. Since it was a Super Silly Saturday Party we had them pass a silly straw and when the music stopped whoever was left holding the silly straw got to pick a wrapped present. We gathered all kinds of silly things to wear. For example, bunny ears, Tiara, green curly wig , old lady glasses, over the hill glasses, ect. I needed one extra silly thing so we took a plastic top hat and decorated it, that one actually was the biggest hit of the game. It's important to wrap them so that they couldn't see what they were picking, it would have been really silly if one of the boys would have gotten the Tiara!!
Silly Picture Time - Use Disposable Camera's pair the kids up and let them take each other's pictures. For the younger ones ask some of the parents to take pictures for you. Take group picture!
Silly String Attack - I highly recommend you only door this game OUTDOORS.
Simon Says Opposites - A game where everybody has to do opposite of what is told by the person acting out as Simple Simon.
Toothless Vegetables - Players take turns to name a fruit or vegetable without showing their teeth. No repetition allowed. Show teeth or laugh and you're out.
Food
The party was purposely schedule from 2-4 so that we didn't have to provide lunch or dinner. I just put out some snacks and let my son help me make Silly Sticks. We took pretzel rods and dipped them into melted melting wafers (most craft stores carry them) and then sprinkled an assortment of sprinkles on them (he got to pick out the colors of the wafers and the sprinkles). The kids love these and they work for just about any holiday or party!!!
Cake
We didn't want to do a traditional cake since it was a silly birthday party so we came up with making a Pizza Cookie and Giant Donut Cake. The Pizza was a huge hit both by taste and appearance. The Donut Cake looked great but didn't really like the actual cake. We bought the Donut Cake pan from Williams-sonoma and used the recipe on the back of the box. The glaze they suggest is fabulous (kind of fudge-like) so if I ever use it again I will probably just use a box cake mix. Mother's Day Strawberry Roses
Here's what you need:
Vase(s)
Wax Paper
Wooden skewers
Green food coloring
Q-tips
Strawberries
Melting wafers (pink or white are my favorite for these)
Baby's breath or Greenery
Here's what you do:
1. Color the wooden skewers with the green food coloring using the Q-tips. Place them on a piece of wax paper to dry. I suggest wearing some latex gloves to help keep your fingers from turning green. Let these dry overnight.
2. Clean strawberries and make sure they dry completely before you dip them. Leave the hull attached.
3. Melt the wafers according to the packaging. Dip strawberries and place them on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper to harden. To speed up this process you can place the cookie sheet into the refrigerator or freezer.
4. Once strawberries are set place the pointed end of the skewer through the middle of the strawberry hull. Place in vase(s) and then add baby's breath or greenery.
Note: You could also use a basket with a styrofoam piece to hold the skewers in place. Then top with Spanish Moss to hide it.

April Fools Day for Preschoolers
Let me just start by saying how hard it was to find stuff to do for my almost 5yr old son for April Fool's Day. Most of the practical jokes and fake food ideas were geared toward the older kids. Here's what I found and did for my son:
Most of the recipes I saw were either in the dessert category or was ground beef and potatoes (which my son doesn't eat) so these are the ones I choose:
April Fools Food Breakfast Pizza
1. Heat oven to 400 F. Flatten 2 Biscuits (see note) into 3 1/2" rounds, leaving a thicker border to resemble pizza crust. Bake 6 minutes, or until golden brown.
2. Spread Biscuits with 2 tsp. Ketchup each. Divide cooked Egg between them and top with sliced Sausages and 1 Tbs. grated Cheese. Microwave on high 10 seconds to lightly melt Cheese.
Bake remaining Biscuits as is or make more pizzas. I left off the sausages and he still loved it. You could also use an English muffin instead of the biscuits.

Fake Hot Dogs And French Fries
Peel a banana and spread peanut butter all over it to give it the appearance of a hot dog. Serve it in a hot dog bun with some strawberry preserve drizzled over the hotdog to make it look like ketchup.
For the fries, peel some apples and cut them into sticks resembling fresh fries. Roll them in a cinnamon and sugar mixture and bake them for 8 to 10 minutes in a preheated 400 F oven. Serve with a side of strawberry preserve as fake ketchup.
I followed the directions with the apples and was completely disappointed in how they turned out. I highly recommend that you don’t bake them at all. The cinnamon sugar mixture caramelized and made them stick to the pan and each other. It also made them chewy and he did not like them. In my opinion just cutting the apples into sticks that look like fries and rolling them in the mixture would have work a whole lot better and still given you the appearance you were looking for.
Monster Milk
My son is all about monsters and I had read during my research to make Alien milk (green food coloring) but since he's into monsters I used blue food coloring and called it Monster Milk!
You could also use it at the breakfast table. Everyone will do a double take when they witness this deliciously deceptive ruse. The trick makes milk change color when it's poured on top of cereal.
Ingredients:
Liquid food coloring
Dry cereal
Milk
Instructions:
To set up the trick, squeeze several drops of liquid food coloring over the bottom of a bowl, then pour in dry cereal to conceal the droplets. When a family member sits down to his cereal and adds some milk, he'll think he's entered a Technicolor twilight zone.
Fake Lemonade
Prepare some lemon Jell-O and pour it into glasses. Add a straw and let it set. It will look just like a glass of lemonade. You can even decorate the glass with a slice of lemon.
I had intended to do this for his preschool class but completely forgot that it takes 4 hours for Jell-O to set, so your best bet is to do this the night before. I used small clear plastic cups and had him help me make it for a prank to his daddy. He loved being involved.

I saw this idea on familyfun.com but I made few adjustments. You slice a pound cake (I used Sara Lee) and once thawed slice it thin to look like bread slices. Then toast in toaster or toaster oven until lightly browned. Then tint cool whip with food coloring until you get a nice orange color. You will only need about 2 drops of the red. They said to use icing but I served this prior to dinner (which was a real grilled cheese). This is also when we served our fake lemonade.

Unique Wedding Shower Gifts
Since spring is just around the corner, weddings will be in full bloom. Most of the people I know are married so I won't be attending weddings anytime soon. Even if I did have one to go to they were probably married or "mature" adults and pretty much have what they need and don't have to register for wedding gifts. A few years ago I searched for some different gift ideas because I was bored of giving a gift that was requested by the couple to be. Here's one of the two that I found (and used) and now want to share with you. The first one is a letter that has fill in the blanks with numbers that coordinate with the gifts. As the bride-to-be reads the letter she is to open the gift that matches the number. It will look like this:
Dear (Bride-to-be),
We have all gathered here today to wish you much love and luck as you and (Groom's name) enter a new ___(1)___ together. We know that your ___(2)___ will be ___(3)___ and full of ___(4)___ for many years. On your wedding day we will join you and

Buy a vase or pitcher that they registered for, then take it to a florist the day of or before the shower. Have them fill it with whites and/or the wedding colors and tie a bow around it. It makes a beautiful presentation.
Find out where they are going for their honeymoon and put together something that they can use for the trip. For example: a big beach bag, 2 embroidered towels, Mrs. (last name) and Mr.(last name), a disposable underwater camera, a honeymoon photo album, "just married" flip-flops, a honeymoon picture frame, and a pregnancy test.
"EVERYTHING YOU WILL NEED FROM A TO Z" basket. For example A is for Aluminum Foil, B is for Bath soaps, X is for X-Rated (lingerie) and on and on. Can also be used for a baby shower.
Breakfast in bed - mugs, tray, pancake mix & forms, coffee, hot choc, etc.
Wooden salad bowls with serving spoons taken out of the box and crinkled dollar bills enough to form a hefty salad (about 25), sprinkled croutons and covered with plastic wrap, then added to a basket with other salad condiments, dressing, jar of olives, salad bowls etc... you can use the wooden salad bowls with serving spoons or use a salad bowl off of the bride’s registry.

A basket of candles that come in a pair in all different colors for you two to share.
The white ones burn first as you begin your new life at home together as husband and wife.
Burn the green pair next and hope no one is thinner after serving the first guests you have over for dinner.
The dark blue candles are for after your first fight Use them to burn while making up all night.
Red candles set the mood and pave the way for your first married Valentine’s Day.
Now, when your first year of marriage is through, the cream anniversary pair will light for you two.
And in time we hope, maybe, just maybe you can light the purple ones on the birth of your baby.

Wacky Wednesday
If you are looking for something inexpensive to do when you are stuck inside due to the weather or other circumstances, try having a Wacky Wednesday, Tricky Tuesday, or Freaky Friday……
Wacky Wednesday
Here are some ideas that I did for my 4yr old son on our 1st Wacky Wednesday, this will take some planning and work on your part and I'm sure I will come up with more wacky ideas in our future Wacky Wednesday days….
My husband made a banner out of rolled art paper that read "Welcome 2 Wacky Wendesday" and no that's not a typo, if your child can read see if they realize that the "N" and "D" have been switched and that the #2 replaced the word "to".
Have a Wacky Search:
Place random things around the house in the wrong place. We have a lazy susan on our kitchen table that has a silverware holder on it, we replaced the knives with left over candy canes from Christmas. We also arranged the blinds at different levels or you could drop one side of the blind making them uneven. We flipped pictures over, unscrewed lamp shades and then screwed them back on upside down, we put chairs on the table, placed odd objects in different locations (Halloween pez dispenser in a plant) - I think you get the idea.
We also snuck into his room after he fell asleep and turned stuffed animals upside down, put toys on the ceiling fan, and hung a shoe on the wall (you can use the new 3M adhesives that have a pull tab which will come right off without pulling paint with it).
Some food ideas:
For breakfast, I bought the waffle ice cream bowls and then filled it with vanilla ice cream and topped it with cereal. The ice cream replaces the milk of course and then I had him eat it with a fork!! I gave him his drink in a Christmas cup and when I handed it to him I said "Merry Christmas".
For lunch, I made him an inside/out PB&J (peanut butter and jelly on top of the bread) and served it with crazy chips (potato chips with chocolate chips and dried cranberries). In his drink I used a Halloween straw and said "Happy Halloween"
For dinner, I made breakfast (scrambled eggs) and served it in a small pot. Another idea is that you could start with dessert then eat dinner. When I served him his dinner I said "Good Morning".
Dress up/Clothing ideas:
I decided that since it was winter time that I would dress him in an Hawaiian shirt (with a long sleeve under it of course), then we put on mismatched socks and turned his stocking hat inside out. I didn't go overboard because he was going to preschool and I didn't want it to disrupt the class. But pretty much any crazy outfit would work.
Activities:
Besides doing the search, you could tape pieces of paper under chairs or tables then they have to lie down on the floor and draw a wacky picture. I did this but to make it more fun, we played the hot/cold game for him to find the pieces of paper. I also had him walk into his classroom backward. You could try to sing instead of talking too.
Nighttime:
If your child takes a bath or shower have them wear a sock or underwear, just as in the Dr.Seuss book Wacky Wednesday. Finish the day off with reading the book to your child and talking about the wacky things he did that day.
In addition:
These ideas can easily be used for a birthday party (Wacky Weekend - great for sleep-over's), for more birthday party ideas check out the book Parties Kids Love.
Teachers could use them at school for spelling and awareness activities or just to have some fun in the middle of the week.
The best part is that the cost is very little if any at all. Have a VERY WACKY WEDNESDAY!!

Death by Chocolate and Caramel
Ingredients
1 (19.8 ounce) package brownie mix
8 (1.5 ounce) bars chocolate candy
1 (14 ounce) package individually wrapped caramels, unwrapped
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
2. Prepare brownie mix according to package directions. Pour half of batter in a 9x13 inch baking dish. Top with a layer of chocolate bars. Cover with caramels. Pour remaining batter over all.
3. Bake in preheated oven 25 to 30 minutes, until set. Let cool completely before cutting into squares.
Snowman Burning Day- March 20

GOOFY’S GOOF BALLS
1 bag large marshmallows
1 cup butter or oleo
2 (8 oz.) pkgs. caramel candy
1 (10 oz) box Rice Krispies
1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
Cut marshmallows in half and freeze. Melt caramels, butter and milk in double boiler. Dip marshmallows in caramel sauce and roll in Rice Krispies cereal. Refrigerate to set.
Makes 4-5 dozen

PLUTO’S PUPPY CHOW FOR PEOPLE
1/2 pound margarine
1 lg. box Crispix cereal
12 oz. milk chocolate chips
1 lb. salted peanuts
3/4 cup peanut butter
1&1/2 c. powdered sugar
Melt margarine, chocolate chips & peanut butter. Place Crispix cereal and peanuts in a paper bag. Pour melted mixture over cereal and shake well. Pour powdered sugar in bag and shake well again.
Chocolate Covered Raisins Day - March 24
Is a day to enjoy this tasty combination of chocolate and fruit. Chocolate lovers who like raisins, find the combination simply irresistible. Kids find them irresistible, too.
Follow the Logic?: Chocolate is made from cocoa beans ( a vegetable) and raisins are from grapes (a fruit). And, we all know that vegetable sand fruit are good for you. Therefore, isn't chocolate covered raisins good for you?
Chocolate Covered Raisin Clusters
1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate bits
1/3 c. butter
16 lg. marshmallows
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 to 3 c. raisins
Heat chocolate bits, butter, and marshmallows in 3 quart saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly, until smooth; remove from heat. Mix in vanilla and raisins. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper and shape into clusters with hands. Refrigerate until firm, about 30 minutes. Makes about 3 1/2 dozen candies.
Pecan Day - March 25
Besides their delightful taste, pecans are also beneficial to your health, with research showing that they have antioxidants to help reduce the threat of cancer.
1. Learn the history of pecans in the United States. Visit the "I Love Pecans" website to start your education on pecans (see Resources below).
2. Plant a pecan tree. Pecan trees are wonderful large shade trees for medium to large yards. The nuts will attract a variety of birds as well as squirrels.
3. Cook your favorite pecan recipes. Pecan pie is a common favorite, but more exotic recipes are out there to be tried, including Mexican Pecan Soup.
4. Throw a Pecan Day party. Pecans make terrific party snacks and can be found in many different styles. A favorite is praline flavored pecans.
5. Serve pecan brownies with a side of praline-pecan ice cream. This is also a good bet if you are throwing a birthday party on National Pecan Day.

It’s the biggest day of the year for the humble frozen waffle. March is National Frozen Food Month, and March 25th is International Waffle Day.

Yes to claim a holiday of your own is easy. Because it's easy; explains why we find so many unusual holidays listed in our calendar.
Did you know that Thanksgiving was a celebrated holiday long before it was made official? Yep this is how many holidays get stated. Another great example of a holiday that has never had official recognition is April Fools Day. April Fools Day which is reserved on April 1st is not a legal holiday. But for hundreds of years it has been a special day to play pranks and practical jokes on people. So you never know, declare a new holiday on "Make your own Holiday' Day" and in a few years it just may turn out to be a favorite all over the Nation or even the world! All it takes is a following of people to celebrate the holiday with you each year. Wow!

Change your name and be another person for just one day. Or, be the person you always thought you should be. Here are some steps to help you celebrate that you have a new identity.
1. Wake up on March 27 and introduce yourself to everyone as Joe. If you are a girl, Joe is short for your old name. If you are a boy, Joe is short for your old name as well. You are a new person. You are no longer strapped down to that name you have been carrying around all these years. Throw off the old name and become Joe for a day.
2. Make a journal entry talking about your feelings about your own name. People always attach meaning to certain names and when you don't fit those meanings, it leaves you wanting something else. Here is your day to express who you think you are. Record it in a journal.

Go ahead and take the leap, but tell people before you do it so they will know who to input on their cell phone.

Death by Chocolate and Caramel
Ingredients
1 (19.8 ounce) package brownie mix
8 (1.5 ounce) bars chocolate candy
1 (14 ounce) package individually wrapped caramels, unwrapped
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
2. Prepare brownie mix according to package directions. Pour half of batter in a 9x13 inch baking dish. Top with a layer of chocolate bars. Cover with caramels. Pour remaining batter over all.
3. Bake in preheated oven 25 to 30 minutes, until set. Let cool completely before cutting into squares.

GOOFY’S GOOF BALLS
1 bag large marshmallows
1 cup butter or oleo
2 (8 oz.) pkgs. caramel candy
1 (10 oz) box Rice Krispies
1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
Cut marshmallows in half and freeze. Melt caramels, butter and milk in double boiler. Dip marshmallows in caramel sauce and roll in Rice Krispies cereal. Refrigerate to set.
Makes 4-5 dozen

PLUTO’S PUPPY CHOW FOR PEOPLE
1/2 pound margarine
1 lg. box Crispix cereal
12 oz. milk chocolate chips
1 lb. salted peanuts
3/4 cup peanut butter
1&1/2 c. powdered sugar
Melt margarine, chocolate chips & peanut butter. Place Crispix cereal and peanuts in a paper bag. Pour melted mixture over cereal and shake well. Pour powdered sugar in bag and shake well again.

Is a day to enjoy this tasty combination of chocolate and fruit. Chocolate lovers who like raisins, find the combination simply irresistible. Kids find them irresistible, too.
Follow the Logic?: Chocolate is made from cocoa beans ( a vegetable) and raisins are from grapes (a fruit). And, we all know that vegetable sand fruit are good for you. Therefore, isn't chocolate covered raisins good for you?
Chocolate Covered Raisin Clusters
1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate bits
1/3 c. butter
16 lg. marshmallows
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 to 3 c. raisins
Heat chocolate bits, butter, and marshmallows in 3 quart saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly, until smooth; remove from heat. Mix in vanilla and raisins. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper and shape into clusters with hands. Refrigerate until firm, about 30 minutes. Makes about 3 1/2 dozen candies.
